As a craft beer enthusiast and designer, I love how both disciplines can blend and to deliver unique experiences.
While living in the Irish Channel neighborhood of New Orleans, I was excited for Miel Brewery and Taproom to open just a few blocks from my house. I was lucky to befriend owners, Janice Montoya and Alex Peyroux, and Miel quickly became my happy place.
Over the course of a few years, I had the pleasure of collaborating with them on two projects that are now some of my favorites: their website and a beer label.
Mammoth Espresso, a New Orleans coffeehouse, found a home at Miel Brewery and collaborated with them on this American Stout blended with coffee beans from the Tolima Department of Colombia. It is a smooth and inviting stout with notes of cherry and citrus.
The inspiration behind the design was the recurring skull motif in Mammoth's brand, paired with my love for thick typography and gradients.
Shortly after this collaboration, Miel approached Online Optimism for a website redesign, and I was excited to take the lead on it.
The website features bold photography and bright colors that are reminiscent of the taproom. Quick access to their current beer selection and an events calendar, make it easy for patrons to plan their visit.
